Description

Program Information
This program is a three-day school and classes begin promptly at 9:30 am on Wednesday and conclude at 1:00 pm on Friday. All classes will be held at the Hampton Inn & Suites hotel in Glen Allen, VA. A detailed program agenda will be emailed to all registrants prior to the training. Please refer to the Program Guidelines for detailed program information and answers to FAQ's.

Registration deadline is January 2, 2018. Because the class size is limited, applications are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Early registration is encouraged!

Who Should Attend
This program has been designed for those individuals who have recently been assigned to Internal Affairs or for those who have not received any formal Internal Affairs training. While policies relate to Virginia's laws and codes, out-of-state applicants are welcome to register for this course.

Certification
This training will be pre-approved by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) for Partial In-service Credit. DCJS Partial In-service Credit (PIC) forms and certificates of completion will be distributed at the close of the training. Participants must attend a minimum of 4 hours to be eligible to receive credit. In-service credit awarded includes legal and career development/elective.

Program Fee
The program fee is $450 and includes tuition, course materials, break services, and hospitality. The program fee with 2 nights of lodging is $625. All lodging is single occupancy. Additional nights of lodging are available for $104.00 per night including tax.

Lodging
The program fee with lodging is $625 and includes lodging for Wednesday and Thursday nights at the Hampton Inn & Suites hotel in Glen Allen, Virginia. A full buffet breakfast is included with the cost of lodging. Additional nights of lodging are available for $104 including tax. Lodging is single occupancy and arrangements are made by the VACP. Cancellation Policy
If cancellation is received before January 2, you will be eligible for a partial refund, but will be assessed a $125 scheduling fee. No refunds will be granted for any withdrawal notice received on or after January 2. No-shows are not eligible for refunds. Qualified substitutions are gladly accepted with prior approval.

Originally formed in 1926, the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police and Foundation, Inc. (DBA Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police, or VACP) is an incorporated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Previously operating as separate entities, the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police, Inc. (501(c)6 entity) and the Virginia Police Chiefs Foundation (501(c)3 entity) merged operations in May 2016.The purpose of the VACP is "to promote the professional development of all executive and management personnel within duly constituted law enforcement agencies in the Commonwealth of Virginia; to encourage close cooperation of all law enforcement agencies in the prevention of crime, detection of crime and the apprehension of those responsible for the commission of crimes; to promote the highest standards of the police profession through selection and training of law enforcement officers and generally pledge and strive for the highest degree of respect for law and order throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia."  A ten-member Executive Board elected by the Active members governs the affairs of the VACP.
